The Bob Britton Miss Rodeo Iowa Speech Award

Fort Madison's Bob Britton believes in the power of setting and achieving goals and encouraging others to set their sights high. A life-long resident of Fort Madison, Bob began his community involvement as a Boy Scout and continues to lend a hand to many causes. He served as a member of the US Army, being stationed at West Point and serving a tour in Korea. As a member of the Tri-State Rodeo committee he served in many capacities including Parade Chairman, and has been honored twice as the Parade Grand Marshall. He has had a life-long involvement in horses and served as the Southeast Director of the Iowa Quarter Horse Association, as a director for the American Quarter Horse Association and announced many horse shows including the Block and Bridle and State Fair shows in Des Moines and rodeos. Bob has worked as an electrician and spent several years touring the country as a driver for Trailways. It was through Bob's belief in the Miss Rodeo Iowa Pageant that the pageant was moved to the Tri-State Rodeo, a home it's called for over twenty years. During that time Bob emceed the speeches, fashion show and coronation for many years and also served as the Master of Ceremonies for titleholder Coronation Celebrations. Bob has made many trips to Oklahoma City and Las Vegas to support the Miss Rodeo Iowa titleholders during the Miss Rodeo America Pageant and serves as a "tour guide" for the state titleholders whenever they are in the Fort Madison community during appearances. Upon his retirement as the pageant emcee the Board of Directors felt it appropriate to honor his years of service and dedication to the program by honoring the Speech division winners with an award in his name.
